Magicfolk combine the traditional and modern, creating music with a powerful, otherworldly atmosphere. Their material ranges from ethereal ballads to energetic celtic tunes, prog-rock and psychedelia.
With the magnetic, soft vocal of Michelle Glover the band incorporates an array of instruments including flute, violin, electric/acoustic guitars, drums, EWI, keyboards and bouzouki.
Inspired by myth and folklore, Magicfolk’s songs always seek to find relevance in the modern and personal, weaving threads of ancient symbolism into songs edged with current and innovative musical colours.
The song-writing duo Michelle Glover (vocals, flute, guitar) and Ben Glover (bass, keys, EWI) founded Magicfolk in 2003. Drummer Geoff Charlton was one of the earliest members, and completing the current line-up are Chris Scupham (keys), and Colin Mold (violin, guitar).
The band have also worked with several other musicians, members and guests during the development of their 2nd and 3rd albums including Stephen Scott (guitar), Sotos Yiasimi (bouzouki) and Lee Morant (guitar).

As a follow-up to the debut album ‘Magicfolk’ (2007), ‘Tales of Power’ was released in 2011 – a collection of eleven prog-rock influenced tracks. In 2014 they released a third album ‘Saltarello’ – a visit to folk and eastern style roots with hallmark Magicfolk psychedelic touches.
Work continued in 2020 to release a series of singles of myth-inspired songs, much like their first album in style. In 2021 the EP ‘Behind the Rain’ was released, followed by the album ‘Arcadia’ in winter 2022.
